Allis C and CA tractor question

Does an adjustable wide front of that era fit both a C and CA without modifying the wide front? Or is the wide front model specific?

Regards
Dave

There was a wide front version for the C I believe, not sure if a CA wide front will work on a C, but I am sure there are a few on here who do know.

Definitely there are wide fronts for a C,I have one on a parts tractor. The CA wide front requires the two holes in the grill for the cultivator mounts if mounted it on a C.

A CA wide front will bolt to a C. You will either have to cut cultivator boss holes in the grill she'll or cut them off and put the grill she'll back on. I cut them off with a saws all. If your using any of the Allis chalmers front mounted equipment you'll have to modify it as the mounting hole in the back of the bolster are about 1 1/2" further forward than on the C. If you had the bolster for a C the front pivot plate will bolt directly on. The only differance in the axle is the C pivot tube is split on the bottom and the CA is solid. It's an easy bolt on job as long as you realize it's not original and don't claim it's original your fine. There were very few original wide front C's and about half the CAs were wide front.
