d14 engine replacement options

I have run across a d14 with what I believe to be a ruined engine by way of rod or main failure, what would be suitable and affordable replacement engines if I decide to buy this project, wd-45 or similar boltin? Its a wide front with loader, front mounted pump for the loader, good rear rubber and aftermarket 3pt, what would It be worth as it sits, I know location is a big thing, thanks for any replies and advice

The D-14 tractor uses what I call the "small-block" A-C engine. D-10-12-14-15's use the small block engine in three displacements: 138-149 and 160 cubic inches. There is no way to fit the larger WC-WD-WD45 engine in a D-14/15 chassis. If the block isn't ventilated, tear it down and fix it. Value with a bad engine isn't much and even less if it doesn't have power steering. Even if you are skilled enough to do all the labor, $1,000 bucks doesn't go very far anymore on serious engine repairs.

thanks so much for the info I had figured that might be the case but have only worked on the wc, wd and wd-45 engines, you probably saved my bank acct on this one.

I will say if the tractor you looked at has a good transmission for sure then you can probably find a D14 or D15 with a good motor and a bad transmission to get a motor for a pretty
reasonable price.I've bought them for around $500 especially if tires/rims are bad too.Just curious how much are they asking for the D14?

$1500 is what he said he would take for it but its an hour and a half travel time also plus fuel.
