AC D17 Series 1

All,

Was looking at a D17 AC series 1. No power steering or fenders. When asked the owner said he bought it for the loader that was on it and he said he didn't run it. He said he has a aftermarket 3pt for it. He is asking 2500$. What is the street value on this tractor. He is firm on price. 1800 Seems more realistic. Anyone been to any sales or bought a series 1 lately thoughts?

Still have the loader? Trip or full hyd? Wife front? Does the loader use the factory hyd pump, or does it have a front pump? I'd say your guess is close.

At my age, with no power steering, I'd walk away. Have you driven one without power steering ???

I purchased a series 3 NF with power steering (and fenders) and real good rubber and rims all the way around last May for $1600.

If it isn't running and you can't hear and see it run and try all the gears, hydraulics, and brakes, etc. it is a parts tractor to me.

Aftermarket 3pt could be worth more than the tractor, not running a whole lot of unknowns.$2500 is way high the rest as said depends on tires, rims, front end.rest of the sheet metal etc.Just for reference I bought a non running D17 a couple years ago at an auction not running, good metal, decent tires and rims, regular steering,NF for $700
turned out to be a good tractor but you never know.

it had a farmhand loader on it. He put that farmhand loader on another tractor. He claims it ran good. What it boils down to is he is asking 2500$ for maybe a 1600$ tractor if that at a local auction. D17's out here just don't have the value anymore.

Any series 4 gasser with a factory 3 point hitch COULD bring $5,000 or more ( price when it was new), and maybe even $6,000 BUT ONLY IF THE RUBBER WAS GOOD, WHEELS WERE GOOD, POWER STEERING, ENGINE DIDN'T SMOKE BLUE AND RAN WELL AND PAINT WAS EXCELLENT, GOOD SEAT CUSHIONS, ETC. What some people fail to understand is all the "wear" items and their condition can add to or de-value the worth of a 60 year old used tractor. Some of these tractors have 10,000 hrs on them and some have 2500 hrs on them. The prices and worth vary a lot !!

Probably good idea to leave that 17 alone. Probably more problems than you want. Around here when you put a loader on tractor it is the kiss of death for tractor. A lot of times loader tractors are beat to death.

The no power steering is a killer on one of those. If its running its a 1500 - 1700 tractor with the three point. If it won't start - its worth the tires and an a few parts - $300-$800 or so. Two years ago I paid $2000 for a good running D17 Series IV that looks as a rough as cob and leaks oil everywhere with brakes that kind of work. The hour meter shows over 8900 hours and it wasn't working when I bought it. It only burns a quart of oil every 100 hours or so and the oil looks good when its changed. The power directional works great and the clutch is good.

I'm still trying to decide if I overpaid.
