snap coupler 3 bottom plow with tail wheel

All,

I am in the process of purchasing a 3 bottom snap coupler plow with the tail wheel and back ram for my WD45. ITs 3 "14. What model is the plow so I could buy a manual for it? Also does the hydraulics have to be set differently for the back ram. How does that work? Is there a pivot built in back so when it raises the wheel moves? Thanks in advance.---adam

There was a "transport valve" - a large casting where the remote coupler was mounted. The valve was bolted to the rear cover in place of the plain steel plate where the coupler was originally. I believe the valve allowed the traction booster system to function as it should, without affecting the rear of the plow. My father had that set up, but it was retired when I was 10 years old, so I never had any experience with it. Different configuration, but the same valve was standard on the D series.

The Transport valve (an option) saw to it that the first 12-1500 psi of hydraulic pressure went to the lift arms and nothing to the tail wheel cylinder. This allowed the Traction Booster system to work, aiding the tractor with extra plow weight on the rear wheels as needed. If you don't have a Transport valve, the Traction Booster system won't work the best with a hydraulic cylinder plugged into the tractor.

thanks for the advice. I don't have a transport valve. Thanks for the information. I called Chatts tractors down in IL. For that particular plow they want 1800$. I found one for 300 that needs some work.

We have a 3-bottom plow with a tail wheel/tire that adjusts with a crank as a gage wheel. Most of the 3 bottom plows we have have a land slide at the back. Is this an Allis-Chalmers
feature?? Plow is converted to 3-point and no hydralics invoved with back tire. cleddy

I suppose you could call it a semi mounted plow. The tail wheel [a little rubber tire] raised the back end of the plow with linkages, and a one way cylinder. There was no steering mechanism like a true semi mounted plow, as the plow was rigid with the tractor, like a mounted plow. The little wheel just castered along wherever the back end of the plow went- on a tight turn, that little thing was really whipping!

I will have to look at this closer? It is a 6.00-16 tire mounted on a adjustable slide and a small crank adjust it up-down a few inches. The rim is orange like the plow and I think 4 bolt implement rim. The plow has the slatted plow lays. Nice plow!!!
