wd45 rocker arm assembly question.

I have a question, to satisfy my curiosity! Do the cast iron stands, for the wd45 rocker arm assembly, normally crack and break? I had that problem with an old wd45 I bought, that would only run on two cylinders, till I removed three broken stands, and got the assembly sitting firm and straight, on the head. The doaner assembly that I got used from someone on this site, also had one cracked and brazed stand on it. I wonder if this is a usual happening, and what causes them to crack?

I suspect they must have been seriously overtightened... I've not heard that they are common to break if installed properly.

I never thought of over torqueing, but that makes sense! I was thinking of engine harmonics, or such stuff.

Common issue over the years. I always blamed it on uneven torqueing and too much torque. I have a D-17 puller that over the last 30 yrs have had it on and off a dozen times or more and never broken one.
