Readjusting front wheels on Allis C

Good morning all of you Allis men, what is the best way to readjust the narrow
front end on Allis C, after removing the steering gear box, and how much end play should the steering shaft how on a Ross gear box. Thanks Guys

You should not have end play. The adjusting screw should be tight but not tight enough to bind. If the pawl is half gone the arm will have never not have play.

Make sure the front wheels are straight. Count the turns from full stop to full stop on the steering wheel. Divide by 2 and turn the wheel from full stop just that far. Put the pitman arm back on and you should be within a tooth or to of right.
