D 17 diesel pistons

Were they different pistons for d17 262 diesel, trying to get some for my tractor and mine are flat top but the ones they are trying to order have a crater
made in them. Did they make different ones for different series mine is a series two. Block number 113156. Any help is appreciated.

If you currently have flat tops, that is what I would replace them with. Some of the pistons have a small valve relief crater for a valve, due to the camshaft grind/timing. You can use that piston if you want, but it will start harder, which I think they start hard enough as it is.

Are the ones with the crater in them for a gas engine with power crater pistons? Are they sure they are looking at diesel pistons?
