AC G Model Questions

G rear tire size are 7.2 x 30 some have 8.5 x 30" just depends on what the owner wants. A G plow is hard to find, selling price is what the seller and buyer agree on. have seen them sell for $75.00 on up too over $200.00.

Are you looking for the left-right hand or just a single. I have a couple here. The G OP manual recommends NOT adding wheel weights or liquid ballast so I would stay away from oversized tires. The axle shafts were a weak point and it was common to break a shaft when the plow hits something. I broke one just using the brakes to steer while mowing with a 4 foot Mott.

Did you weld the axle back together or find a used one? There is a G Model coming up for auction that has plows with it. Only problem is that the tractor is disassembled. Motor is assembled. I am trying to figure out how much it is worth. I don't know the condition of the tires, so I am trying to price tires.

Can you find parts for the engine? Is it a Hercules Engine? For some reason I'm thinking that it is not a Continental.

Continental N62. Same basic engine as the MH Pony. The blocks are different due to starter arrangement and will not interchange. The heads have different size plugs (14mm vs 18mm) but they will interchange. Parts are pretty easy to find. Axles can be welded but sometimes can be hard to get them straight and smooth enough for the seal not to leak. All that I have had apart the break was always right at the seal location. May or may not have the low gear option. Factory hydraulics would be a plus. Original size rears were 6x30 with 7.2x30 being the replacement size. Definitely would not recommend going any larger as was mentioned above. Front weight is also a desirable option and needed if no front implement is mounted. Bare tractor front axle weight is probably under 100 lbs. Lee

I have restored 4 of these tractors in the past 10-12 years. Just finished one a couple weeks ago. The parts are very expensive, new or used. Rusty Acre tractor parts is prolly the cheapest but have limited parts. Lots of parts on eBay but high priced. The engine is a Continential n62. The Pistons won't come out the top with the rod attached. The rod cap is larger than the Pistons. They are a pain to put new rings in. Here is the one I just finished.

My axle broke right at the splined end in the differential. Didn't make any noise, just stopped moving. I was concerned that there could be chunks in the gears so I took the whole rear end off and pulled the diff to make sure it was clean. I had a spare tractor that came along in the deal so I switched one from it. Hardest part was getting the brake drums off the shaft.
