D19 PTO..........

I posted on another forum the other day that I'd had a mishap that bent the PTO shaft on my D19 Allis.
I've made progress on straightening it by putting a hydraulic jack between the drawbar and the tip of the PTO shaft and applying pressure against the tip of the shaft. It's working little by little, but it will never be perfect again. A fellow had a good used shaft on EBay for $75 so I sprung for it.

My question: does anyone know exactly how to change these PTO shafts on a D19? I have a parts diagram that shows the parts clearly, but no instructions for changing.

From the parts diagram, it looks like you could just pull the old shaft out and put the new one in, much like an H or M Farmall. However, I'm not sure about the shift mechanism. My parts diagram shows the shift mechanism, but not where it's located or how it works. I don't want to pull the old shaft out and hear something go "clunk" inside the housing so I have the tear the tractor half apart to find out what happened and correct it.

I can get by this fall without using the PTO on this tractor, but since I'm getting a good used shaft I may as well plan on changing them.

Drain out the oil from the trans/diff and the hydraulic compartment. Remove three bolts and give it a yank. Replace the seal and Oring with new and you're good to go. No problem with PTO shifter coupler.
