Wd45 diesel rear end

Was there a different rear end in the diesel.
Driven both quite a bit and can,t recall any different.
But at an old tractor show you hear most anything.

The WD45 diesel rear end gears were 16% lower than the gas models, reason was the diesel engine rpms was higher than the gas

That makes sense ends up with the same ground speed

WD45 gas ring & pinion gears are 13 teeth x 43 teeth. All D-17, D-19 and WD45 diesel are 9 teeth x 35 teeth.

The WD45D PTO has a different gearing as well, for the same reason.

The one diesel I?ve seen had a D stamped after the SN, image that helped denote the diesel tractor and different gearing.
