AC 185

So I saw an AC 185 listed for sale. Can you all tell me the good, the bad and ugly with this model please? I am a Farmall / IH guy. Thinking about
this to pull a haybine and rake. What should I be aware of if I look at this tractor.

Great diesel engine. No true independent pto. Have to learn to put power director lever in neutral to let pto keep running. Parts available.

What do you think it is worth? Has a cab (fair). Tires are ok to good.

Real good tractors but prone to jump out of some gears if the operator clashes the gears very much.Great hydraulics and hydrastatic steering,handle nice.

They were among the better efforts by A-C. For those who are used to an independent PTO there is a learning curve for live PTO operation via the hand clutch. Check the dipstick and breather for signs of coolant froth. Make sure it stays in all gears uphill and down. If everything chrcks out you will enjoy it, they are a very nice tractor to run, even as compared to modern ones.

One of Allis,s finest tractors no matter what Butch says,, that 301 diesel is a great engine along with the rest of the machine,, they are prone to jumping out of gear in the tranny, but that's an AC flaw that never was corrected,, if you don't buy it Id be interested,, email is [email protected]
