My neighbor recently bought a 185 tractor; the RPM cable is lying along the left hand side of the frame and loose by the
alterntor? I see nothing that it hooked to? Also- the fuel gauge has a wire on the sending unit and that goes nowhere....just
loose. Doesnt it have to go on the gauge? Thanks
 
Yes, the stud in the center of the sending unit is hooked by wire to the gauge. Someone may have added a ground wire from one of the 5 screws on the sending unit, back to a good ground, as grounding could be an issue with them.
 
Tell your neighbor to google part # 70246764. Not sure how to address the replacement alternator though,that didn't show as a complete assembly on the "parts book".
