Allis B For Sale

There's an ad on this site for a Allis B for parts. Has B steering, but C type wide front, 5 lug rear wheels, battery box... Wish I could see the other side. I don't see hand brake levers.
Is it a B or C?

B's were sold with those wheels. The B and C axles for those wheels were not interchangeable. They are not rare by any means but not common either.

Probably a B. Too many people think the B was only arch wide front, spline rears, and hand brakes. The later ones were 5 bolt rears, adjustable wide front, and had foot brakes.

Someone might come up with documentation on this (which I don't have) but to my knowledge the straight front axle and the 5 bolt rear wheels became an option in 1948 on the B model. I have a 1948 B with the arched front axle and the single nut rear hubs. My Dad has two 1948's with straight fronts and the 5 nut rear hubs. I don't know which year the straight front axle became the only option. Back in the 1950's my Dad had a 1951 B model that had the single nut rear hubs but a straight front axle, consequently I don't know either which year the single nut rear hubs were phased out. As for the the hand brakes they were finished in the early 40's.

According to the parts book, the square tube adjustable front axle for the B started in 1940. I'm thinking it must have been an option, as they show a different style adjustable prior to 1940. I'm also thinking the same for the splined vs 5 bolt rear axles. They show the splined for the "standard" B and the 5 bolt for 40-68" rear tread wheels. Hand brakes ended at B 52718. That would be roughly 1/3 the way through 1941.
