TSX-464 on a WD

i'm looking to rebuild my carb. i see our hosts offer 3 different kits - i'm hoping for some guidance as to how i should determine which i need, as well as any tips/suggestions for the process itself. i don't have a lot of carb experience. thanks :)

Well, to start with, a WD never came with a Marvel-Schebler TSX464. That carb was used on a WD45 and D-17. There should be a brass tag on the carb with information on it. A picture would be nice. Could be a Zenith brand or Marvel- Schebler brand, but not a TSX464.

I buy my carb kits from my local O'Reilly's auto parts store, kit 778-505 is likely to e what you need and cost around $20

well, that may very well be - but i've got one on my WD. i tried three times but could not get my camera to take a readable picture of it. yes, it has a brass tag - and that brass tag says TSX-464. below that, it says 55-4.

NAPA has kit for it BK s66445 about $ 31.00. The TSX 464 will fit it and you have to play with jet
adjustments.

somewhere in its life my wd picked up a tx 33 off probably a ford, my jubilee sports one too, the one on the wd had had some ummm mods.... to fit and work, it runs good, but until i fix the front axle support i haven't taken it out and worked it, im interested in how it works under a good load with that carb

Well, it could have a TSX-454 on it but as the good Doctor says, it didn't come from the factory with it.
If it had a Marvel/Schebler carb when new, it would have been a TSX-159.
The trouble is, these two carburetors have different size bodies
so the kits are not interchangeable.
Kits for either carb are readily available....just make sure you get the one for your carb.

i don't dispute this for a moment. but the fact is, that's the carb it has on it, whether anyone believes it or not.

sorry, didn't notice what i assume was a typo in your post. i have a TSX-464, not 454.

Like he said it has a TSX 464 on it and even though it didn't come with a TSX 464 it will work. There are
Allis Chalmers only online sites that will tell it works but you have to adjust the jets.

Yes, a typo....and I don't doubt your tractor has a TSX-464......
my point......that carb has a larger body than a TSX 159 so you have to make sure you get a kit for the larger carb.

i never had any idea of buying a kit for a different carb. as my original post stated, this site sells 3 different kits for the 464, and i was looking for some guidance on which of those three to get.

I'm with Kenny. How wore is the throttle shaft and bushings? How rough is everything else? The more expensive kits usually have more parts in them.

If you don't have any get you a set of cutting torch files. Use them to make sure all passages are open.

i may be able to borrow a set. if not, i'll grab one next week when i go to the "big" city. (in my case, big is a very relative term)

Why borrow a set when a set will cost you less then $10 and the nyou have them for the future
