Allis Chalmers B is not idling

Good afternoon,

My Allis Chalmers B is not idling. It has to be just under 1/2 throttle for it to idle.

Does anyone have any steps I can use to trouble shoot the issue?

Thanks

You don't have enough detailed information. When you get below 1/2 throttle does it still stay at idle when the lever is clear back or does or die? When you push the throttle lever all the way forward does it actually run at the proper high speed? What all has been done to the tractor since it run properly?

From the little you gave it could be the cross over arm under the water outlet in the front out of adjustment.

New issue? Change anything recently? On my boys, the gov lever works its way out of the housing and makes the throttle go goofy. Like Dick said, we need more info.

Thanks for everyone's help. I will answer the questions the best I can. The tractor was my fathers and I purchased it after he passed. From what I remember, my father could have that idle down to the first notch. Now it needs to be about half throttle to idle. Unfortunately, before he died he no longer had the ability to think as he once did. When I got the tractor it not run and my father could not figure out why. So I don't know what he might all have tired. When I got it, I did a compression test on it and each cylinder is consistent at about 50 PSI. I was able to get the tractor running by replacing the Magneto. The one on it was not giving spark and was for a International. He still had the original Allis Mag and it was hot. I had to change the wires to match the mag, but that got it running.

I hope this helps.
