Need help diagnosing my Buda 4B153 engine. Under acceleration it
keeps backfiring. I?ve replace all plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser,
and points the gap is set to 0.022. I checked the firing order and it?s
correct. I tidied adjusting the timing on the distributor which seemed
to help a little. I also rebuilt the carb with new neddle and seat it came
with instructions on how to rebuild it. I set the air mixture screw 2
turns out and the main jet 3 turns out.

when turn the crew in on the mixture screw it does nothing but when I turn the main jet in it wants to die. I also have a hard time starting when cold I need to use starting fluid for a little then it idles fine with choke
closed

Start it up, let it warm up some....then open the throttle ALL the Way (on the Quadrant)..then close the Main fuel screw until it labors and/or backfires, then open it back up 1/2 turn ( approx)..

How much depends on whether you are working it Hard ( more), or light..(less)...and I KNOW what I am talking about...!

These nearly always need copious CHOKE, to keep the fire lit until they warm a little.!

Idle, just find the "best" idle and leave it there...
