Serial Number

I'm trying to order a front main seal for my WD45 Serial NO# 157472 year 1953 from AGCO. I can't figure out how to determine the right one.

70224929 1 SEAL, oil, front (Prior to Engine S/N 45-16650
70226620 1 **, *** SEAL, oil front (Eff. Engine S/N 45-16650 & Up) (Serviced in KIT 70226640)

Engine serial number should be stamped on a flat behind the carb. I don't know what the difference is between them. I'd guess the later one would work. Both probably would.

I believe it is on the block in the area behind the carb. If the block was ever replaced it may not have a serial number. stamped in it.

Check the Ser.# on the block like the guys say.
Years ago someone posted a list showing the correlation between Tractor #s and Engine #s.
If the numbers on that list are correct and your engine is original to the tractor, you should find the Engine # to be somewhere around 45-14486.
Just for the heck of it and to prove the accuracy of the list, I would appreciate your letting us know how close I came.

Thanks, Brian

If you can get the outside dia. and the dia. of the crankshaft you can get a seal from a bearing or industrial supply. Easier if you can also get a number from the old seal too.
