D21 injection pump

Will the injection pump off a 200 work on a D21? Got a friend who has a D21 with a bad injection pump. He took the pump off and took it to a dealer who sent it to a pump shop that went bust and his pump disappeared. Thats the short version. End result he needs a new pump and I can get him one off a 200.

A 200 injection pump could be made to fit by changing driveshafts, but will never have the correct HP and has a manual shut-off instead of electric. That pump is a model "DC" and the DC was also used on some model "M" and "M-2" combine engines. The tag on the pump says "DB" or "DC" to identify. The combine inj pump would bolt right on and be much closer to correct HP and more HP could be tweaked up without pump teardown.

If a DC four roller pump needs "tweeked up", it should ONLY be done with the pump apart with the rotor in the centrality gauge. Not done correctly there's a HUGE risk of head seizure. If done on engine is just asking for trouble. Four roller pump leaf springs don't have much range anyway, and different roller shoe size is usually needed to get more fuel at full load.

All of the "DC" pumps I've seen on an M or M2 combine had a torque screw in them. This is an easy external adjustment, but probably will never quite get clear up to where a D-21 would have been, especially those D-21's that were running 150 or more HP.(which they shouldn't have been).

Thank you guys. I think the thing to do would be get a combine pump and have it set to d21 specs. Am I missing anything?

Because the combine pump has an advance mechanism, you will set the timing at less than 34 degrees. There are two different advances for the combine pumps. You'll want to find a pump that says DCGFC629xxxx on the tag and time it at somewhere between 18 and 24 degrees BTDC depending on which advance it has. You want the total timing to be 34 to 36 degrees BTDC when fully advanced. The D21 will start much better with this style pump on it.
