I just got this ca and when i drained the
oil i got water too. I left the drain plug
out and added water to the empty radiator.
Water runs out of the carb at a little over
1.75 gallons. I assume that would be about
head gasket high but maybe a little higher.
Any recommendations or ideas before i tear
it down until i find it. Right now I'm
thinking mill manifolds and head and
replace gasket. Check for cracks of
course.

Oddly enough just number three. With plug out it doesn't cone out carb. With plug in ut doesn't cone out 2 or 4 so it isn't gasket blown between cylinders. Cracked head? Any ideas?

It could be a head gasket leak between a coolant port and #3, or a cracked head, IMHO.

Thanks for the second opinion. I think we're on the same track. I'll tear her down gently to see where it is coming from and post results later. May be helpful to someone else later.

Before you do anything check for a freeze plug in the head . I will be over number three. If my memory is correct.

Unfortunately you got it right. Sleeve busted. It's odd that is busted in a section not just a split.

Well bummer this one has to come all the way down. It's a mess. Looks like pull motor and thank God i have access to a machine shop. Hate to think what it would cost these days to completely rebuild this thing.

Ok so i tore it all down today. Third sleeve busted. Spare motor under the bench in the shop that came with some other stuff has exact same problem. So where's the best place to buy rebuild kit. For now I'm just going to build one but I'm sure I'll end up rebuilding the other as i have two more of these jewels to resurrect or if they don't need it then sell. Thanks. Btw those are the easiest sleeves I've ever pulled.
