WC vs WD for mounted corn picker

I have a 2 row tractor mounted AC corn picker that doesn?t seem to have a model number. I have the operators manual and it doesn?t give a model number either. The manual shows mounting instructions for both styled and unstyled WC tractors. My question is, would this picker fit on a WD?

WC and WD used the same engine but different transmissions and the WD had hyds where as the WC does not. I would think it would fit on both and the plus would be the hyds could be set up to do the lifting of the heads

You also have the hand clutch which come in handy in downed corn . You can stop the movement of tractor while picker can keep running.

If at all possible put it on the WD. You would have live pto which you will be glad for. You need to post on the Allis Chalmers Forum as there is lots more info there than here on pickers. Grandfather had a new styled WC with a two row picker. Tom

Their was an early mounted picker that did not have a model number. That was not unusual. The model 33 came out later. In October 1951 Dad bought a WC with the early picker. I was 7 yo and the dealer drove it to our farm...he said I should tell Dad that the tractor hadno antifreeze in it.It had a lever on the right side (rear) that was used to adjust the picker height. The early picker should fit a WD. The fan assembly should fit under the gas tank and forward of the battery. It is driven by the belt pulley. The tractor pto is removed and the short shaft on the picker connects to the stub shaft of the pto gearbox.

From what you?ve stated I would say I have the early unnumbered picker. Pictures in the book show the belt pulley drive and the hitch and pto shaft removal. The reason I question the mounting is that the tractor rear end housings are somewhat different and that makes me wonder if it will fit on the WD which would be my preference. Perhaps the picker (and manual) were made prior to the WD being made. That would answer why it isn?t shown in the manual but still leaves the question as to whether if will fit the WD. Thank you all for you help!!

I can"t quite remember the brackets on the finals that held the rear of the picker, but the brackets that hold the elevator up would have to be different as well. The WC brackets attached to the tapped holes on top of the rear axle. Those holes are not on a WD final.
