removing stub shaft rear wheel bolts on to. D-17

I need some advise on removing stub shaft that rear wheel bolts on to. I have the wheel off remove cover off drive gear including cap, on inside bolt washer plus shims also snap ring that holds big gear in place, put stud bolt back in found short piece of pipe that fit snuggly over bolt head to keep it in place gave it some hard hits no movement thou I had better stop and seek advise so here I am. thanks for help in advance.

Bottle jack or screw jack on its side. Not easy to do. There's also two empty holes in the final drive housing on each side of where you are working. Make a pressing tool to span across those two holes.

I used the bottle jack when I did my WD and it worked but like Doc says it's a little unhandy to get it in place.
Using the holes seems like a good idea but since they are not directly across from the center line of the axle, you my not be able to put sufficient pressure on the end of the axle that way.
