need some info please about an alis chalmers model 5020, 2 cyl diesel. looks ok for it's age its good and bad points. are parts available etc
 
Well it is a 40 year old tractor built by Toyosha tractor in Osaka Japan.. I would suspect if one needed parts he might have to look hard but I have not owned one so really do not know. Myself I think I would look for something with parts support..
 
We have one and same in Simplicity. They were sold as Hinamoto, Allis Chalmers, Simplicity, and Massey Ferguson. Only thing replaced on ours is the alternator. Found that replacement on an E-Bay listing. Other things were normal maintenance items. We use it but never abuse it. If you do need some parts replaced, they may be a problem. Availability may be only salvage yards that specialize in import tractors.
 
I have the Simplicity model of the same thing with over 2000 hours on it. I use it 7 days a week doing chores. It needs a clutch and I have a new clutch and pressure plate but haven't found a time to have it down to change it. It has had a hard life since I bought it new. It just keeps plugging away. With my big feet and being 80 it is with all the mud I have problem getting on it this wet sloppy winter so far.
 
No parts support if you need anything mechanical,guy drove 300 miles to get some steering parts off a parts 5020 I have here.Good tractors until they break then it'll be a search.I have a MF 220 same as the AC 5030 does a great job with a 4ft tiller.I bought it cheap as a broken down 4WD changed it to a 2WD and have been using for over 5 years.If it breaks
anything major it'll be a parts tractor.
 
I have a 5030, which is a slightly larger version of the same tractor.
It?s been a very economical machine to run. The hydraulics are live, but the PTO is not! It does have a built-in overrunning clutch, though.

Accessories like starter, alternator, diesel injection parts are readily available. Major parts are a problem, although I haven?t needed any-yet.

The radiator screen needs cleaning regularly or it will overheat.
