This list of nearly 100 Missouri AC dealers was in the November 1962 Successful Farming magazine..I can remember 5-6 area farmers buying a new AC tractor to get the free 3 day trip..

Around here (NY) it would have been Hoard's Dairyman or American Agriculturalist that would have the state wide dealer lists and usually all the major equipment companies sponsored ads that would include the list. As a kid during the late 1970's there probably would have been 50-60 dealers state wide for AC, JD, IH, etc a piece. A fair number of buildings survived to this day but obviously repurposed after the bloodbath of the 1980's. Used to be around 15 dealers within 30-35 miles of us in terms of AC. A fair number were stand alone without NH or Hesston as a sideline. This hurt long term as AC exited hay, forage, and materials handling lines.

Those were the hay days! In Indiana when I was in in my single digits I remember a JD about 4 miles away, A Ford 13 miles, AC, & IH both at about 14 miles. Only one left is the Ford; now New Holland in Spencer, IN. Makes me sad!

Yes, only I recognize Terry Implement as one with the same town, same dealer name and still and AGCO dealer. Wise Bros is open again as a used equipment dealer. I know the dealers in St. Gen, Higginsville and Edina are AGCO dealers still but have changed hands. I remember going to the Columbia and Boonville dealers as a kid. Scott Implement in Sweet Springs must not have opened yet in 1962 according to this list. My Dad did business with them when I was a kid and I did again about 2004-2005. But they are gone too.

Blaine - thanks for sharing! Mike

Thanks for posting this, we did business with the Farnen Bros. in Salisbury where I grew up for several years. Just last week Richard Farnen passed away at the age of 91, lots of memories.
