780 forage harvester

Anyone know what model of direct cut grass head fit the 780 forage harvesters? Were they built by Gehl? Thanks.

I am not sure the direct cut head had a model number. The Allis 780 was an Allis built machine as was the 782 that replaced it. The 782 was also sold as a Ford 680 (if I remember right). Grandfather had a new 780 with 2 row cornhead and a direct cut head. I bought a nice 780 with a 1 row head for my collection and wouldn't mind having a direct cut head for mine but I doubt more than a dozen even exist anymore. Tom

My brother bought a new D-19, and the dealer let us rent a new 780 cutter, the first year, it worked good.
