Elderly relative passed last yr, his nephew is getting rid of ol,junk tools equip, family has first chance, other than few select tools, wall hangers etc, got a wd parts tractor for my wd45, it intrigued me because of bent shifter, was thinking late wd, serial wd221549' which makes it a wd45, yet engine has side plate, like a wd, trans has bent shifter, late wd or 45, any other features or differences that I can use to determine whether it was a wd with latter wd 45 trans and rear end or a wd 45 with a wd motor,?? Dunno what I'm getting but it's free to me and I know I can use some parts thanks

I have a wd that was 100% original when dad got it. Stick comes up straight then back at a 45 degree angle. I've seen another like it in a local fence line.

Shifter means very little. I have a WD45 that has a straight shifter. Serial number has it as a WD45 and so does the engine but the shifter says WD.

Could be a couple things, maybe a complete motor replacement with a WC/WD motor or tractor needed a new block and they had the WD45 parts put in a WD block.Part number on the head would be a clue too plus the size of the carb.

I'm going to say 45 with a WD transplant engine. That late of a number it should be 100% WD45. Either way, free is a good price.

Today's Featured Article - Madison's County - by Anthony West. Philip Madison has been a good friend of mine for quite some time. He has patiently suffered my incessant chit chat on the subject of tractors for longer than I care to remember, and on many occasions he has put himself out, dropped what ever it was he was doing, to come and lend a hand cranking handles, or loading a find onto a trailer. Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects. ... [Read Article]
