What can I learn here about A6 crawler? How good is the 366 cubic inch engine? How rugged is the drive train?

Go over to the unofficial allis forum and post under the crawler section. I had some but it been too many years ago. I do remember the later 344 engine had a bigger crank shaft diameter.

1st thing you have to understand some parts are getting very hard to fine. allis chalmers there selves will have very few parts. there are some after market parts. engine parts are usually easy to find as they did use engines in more than one piece of equipment but under carriage isn't. the 6 is a pretty durable machine only if its been taken care of. never buy a dozer unless all sumps are full of oil and you can run it for 20 minutes to check for oil leaks. final drives are really important to check the oil levels first. if someone wont do that that has one for sale then run away. the automatic tranny is nice. should have an de accelerator on for shifting fwd/rev. go onto the net and type in hd6. there is a lot of information on there about them. if your lucky enough to find a good one that has been mechanically service might be a good machine but all this depends on what you want to do with it which is the first question to ask your self. there are people with good knowledge on her that will help you with any repairs. good luck .
