Loader on D17 Followup

I posted previously that I blew a hydraulic line to the lift cylinder and also the loader would not go down. Well, I learned something during all this. The loader wouldn't go down because I had mismatched fittings on the back of the tractor just as a couple of you guys said. I was using a coupler that takes a male from either side (union??) - not sure what it's called. Oil will flow out but not back into the tractor. So that's good. The line blew out because it was badly rusted and pitted. I hadn't noticed that when I wrote previously but the neighbor noticed right away. Cut out the bad part, cut 3/8" threads on the steel line and screwed a hose onto it. Ready for the snow now.
I would never suspected the couplers being a problem - they plugged in tight like my other tractors.
Thanks for the help.
