I only seen one, about 50 miles from here. Still in use, but looks tough. Where they a good machine?

I only recall seeing two, and I'm in big 4WD tractor country (north central ND).

Both were by the wayside with engine failures, which doesn't prove anything, but probably isn't a good sign!

There was a big Allis in the neighborhood. I think it was probably older model. Money pit, I heard. Did Allis build them or did someone else.

I think they were assembled with an Allis powertrain at Steiger in Fargo.

If not, the Cummins-powered Steigers were, for sure.

Our FFA chapter toured the plant in '75 or '76, and they were building Steiger green, Allis orange, IH red, and Ford blue units there at the time.

My best friend and next door neighbor bought one, he needed something with a PTO, and a 4 wheel drive to pull a air seeder, and he can fix about anything,he bought it out of Beach North Dakota, I think he kept it one year maybe two, but he didn't have engine trouble!

Yes we still use one for fall chisel plowing. It has been repowered with a Mack truck 6 cylinder engine. Our road district used it last summer to pull a sheep's foot. Andy

There were many of them in south central iowa. 8550's, 7580's 4w305's etc. There were even several of the steiger 440's. The guys got a lot of work out of them.
