In the beginning of 2015 I got sick and almost died. Spent 13 weeks straight in the hospital. I'm still recovering as of now. The C hasn't ran since before I got sick. Put the charger on the battery for a couple of hours, hit the start switch and it fired right up. The only other thing I did before trying to start it was check the oil. I guess the Sta bil in the gas does work
 
Sorry to here you where sick, not a fun thing to do.
I posted a while back about my C that had sat in the back of the machine shed for I do not know how long and I set a battery in poured some gas In and after I hot wired it due to bad switch if fired right up. Has a finish mower hanging on the 3 point I made for it
 
I was surprised when it fired right up and ran well on over 3 year old gas. The only thing I did was turn the gas back on, so thewre was no gas sitting in the carb
 
I've seen engines run on some pretty nasty gas before and it is pretty much if it will burn well they will run on it. But I prefer to let them sit empty so les likely to be a problem
 
I like to leave them empty also but work that day and ended in the hospital that night. I used the C regularly till then
 
I really wish I could say I do not understand what you have gone through. Back in 1996 I was doing just fine then after a guy turned me into a punching bag a few days latter I lost the use of my left leg and needed help doing most any thing. A few months latter I had to have surgery on my back because of a herniated disk. I was sort of lucky it was in Oct so most of the farm work was done but machines where not put up as they should have been. I have since had to learn to work around not being able to do what I once did. So yes I understand well
