WD stuck in 4th gear

A friend contacted me about hid WD stuck in 4th gear. I guess he said it would take off when the clutch pedal was released. He took off the top cover of the shifter and looked inside. Nothing broken or noticeably wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Next time just pull out the shift lever, not the whole top. That way when you look inside you will be able to see what needs to happen. It's less confusing for me.

I got mine stuck in reverse twice. The worn bottom of the shifter would slip out if the lever went just wrong as you tried to engage the gear. Probably could happen on other gears, too.

Does it let you continue to shift, or does the shifter feel like it's in a sort of "fake neutral"? But yeah, take the snap ring and retaining washer out of the shift tower and pull the shifter out (and don't lose the pivot pin!!) and see if the three rails are aligned in the center or not. Something is probably worn.

Friend contacted me and said shift fork was broken. He sourced a replacement from a local AGCO dealer. Thanks for the replies guys. I sold him the tractor about 12 years ago.
