175 Allis Hydraulics

My 175 has a hydraulic problem. It won't lift my 4x5 baler tailgate anymore. If I just feather the lever, either one, it will lift it , but if I bring it on back it stops. Does the same thing with my disk mower. Back in the winter it wouldn't lift the loader till it warmed up, too.
I've changed fluid and filter, cleaned the sump screen, had the pump rebuilt, replaced the 2 hoses on the end of the suction pipe, and cleaned out the vent on the fill plug.

I don?t have any answers, but I?m going to watch closely for any possible solutions. My 170 will do the same thing, and I haven?t figured out why
either. I have to really ?feather? the handle for heavier hydraulic loads, when for years it had no issues at all.

Sounds like the wrong hose tips plugged into the tractor couplers. Without a pressure test gauge to verify things, that's what it sounds like.

My couplings are the same ones that has worked for a long time. Hooked both the baler and cutter to a Massey Ferguson to do my hay and worked fine. For the pressure, gets 2200# when you feather it, but goes to 0 when you pull it on back..

Main relief valve cartridge needs a seal kit or replace it with new. It is located at the LEFT front corner of the valve stack. There is a second relief valve cartridge located at the RIGHT rear corner of the valve stack. You could temporarily swap cartridge assemblies to verify that is the problem.

Tore down my relief valve and there is a black square seal that was broke on one side. Got my repair kit today and was wondering if I needed to heat that little black square seal to get it on or just lube it up? Any other hints would be helpful. I thank you for your answer..

Well after reading a little more it is the back-up ring I'm wondering about . I'm figuring the concave side goes toward o-ring. Also I took the o-ring off and it's junk, figure that's one of my problems.

Rebuilt my main pressure relief valve and it seems to be working, Lifted my tailgate on my baler and picked up the disc mower. Thank you for the advice.
