Mag Ground switch for B?

Ordered a set of new switches for my B that arrived today. I did not get prices in advance, and the vendor did not have an on-line catalog. They sent an AGCO ground switch that cost $56. Is there anything special about this application that requires such an expensive switch? Can I just go to NAPA and get a simple on/off switch and send this one back?

Thanks,
Tim

I have purchased mag switches from eBayfor less than $20.00. Napa should be able to get them also. A mag switch is a little different than other switches because, they are single pole and, when you push them in, they ground they mag which kills the engine.

If it's a quality switch that's dust and moisture tight it might be worth it. A photo of the high-dollar switch would be helpful.

My favorite mag kill switch over the years has been the OEM IH units, but I've seen lots of crappy switches folks have tried to "get by with".

A magneto only produces so much energy, and if a switch with dirt and moisture in it bleeds some of the current to ground, spark will weaken accordingly.

Most any switch will work just fine but one has to know how to wire it os you can let the smoke out of the mag in a heart beat. A simple marine grade switch works the best that way water etc. is less likely to make it go bad. Then you hook one side to the mag shut down clip and the other side to a good ground
