Proper gear oils

I have an Allis Chalmers CA that I am working on. At present, I am unable to fine the type/grade of oil to be used in the transmission, PTO box, and the final drives. The books I have only give the quantities. Can anyone lead me to the proper oils?

Where there are hyds and gear like the transmission I use UTF but where there is no hyds I use the 85W140 n my A/C tractors.

The operator manual details things like oil types, fill/drain location, chnge intervals, all tractor controls, etc.

Oil types and specs have greatly evolved over the last 50 or 60 years. Not one old tractor manufacturer ever re-wrote their owners manual to update to modern oils. You have to do that yourself. If that CA was mine, I'd use 80/90 oil or 75W-140 oil in the final drives. Everywhere else (except the engine) I'd use modern day hyd/trans oil from a newer Deere/CaseIH/ AGCO etc. That oil is good enough for 600 HP tractors it is sure adequate for a 25 HP CA.

the transmission / pto/ bevel gear / hydraulics are all the same cavity.. fill at the plug by your left foot... I agree, the new GENERIC hydraulic/ trans fluid is great. Any Farm Store will handle it............. and 80-90 gear lube is probably the cheapest for the final drives, and works great.
