I've got a B that we are restoring and I was looking at the serial # it start with 105....in all my research i can't find what year that was produced.

Also while I'm here...does anyone happen to know what the piston bearings need to be torqued to? Just put new rings and seals in and she is tough to crank. Wondering if we have them too tight? Or if we just need to drag it around to get those seals worked in.

Is it 105,XXX? That would make it a 1950. Did you check the shims when you did the crank? There is a procedure in the manual for getting them shimmed right. Rods should be torqued to 35 ft lbs with .001-.002" of clearance. Mains get 80 ft lbs of torque with .001-.005" of clearance.

1950, that makes sense. Thank you!

Yea we did everything by the book. It turns over nice just seems a little snug. I've heard of old timers saying when they do new piston seals that they take a little bit to get lubed up and worked in. Hoping that's all it is.
