Oil Filter on D-19??

A friend just purchased a good-looking D-19 w/Loader..

It has the usual 226 cu. in. engine...BUT, it has a Fram PH8A oil filter in the same place that the usual Batting-Filled filter would normally be..

Question.: Was there a change made by AC from the original Batting-filled oil filter, or has someone made a very
bad choice for this engine..??

This tractor has a Fran PH8A on both the Hydraulic system AND on the engine...

Hope you can give us some insight on this one..!!!

I couldn't remember the tractor # and it came to me too late (after I posted!)

Sorry about that, but the question is about an AC 170 Gas...

D-17 gas from about late 1959 to 1960 had the PH-8A style filter, and the One-Seventy is just a newer version of the D-17 series 4. Hydraulic filter also PH8-A.
 
Owned a D-19 for 45 years and it has Ford type oil filters on both places. Never knew the D series to have batting filled filters.
 
All D-10-12-14 and oldest D-17's had the same cotton string filled engine oil filter as a WC-WC-WD45.
