Sherman transmission alone will likely run close to $600 when you find one. I saw one on an auction (choice on the pallet)....."choice" went for about $250- I knew what he"d pick....I already had one. Got my "44 steel rear end WC with 3 new tires and Sherman, for $550 on a farm auction where the auctioneer misread the serial number...otherwise I"m sure more collectors would have been there.

Thanks for the replies, does anyone know who made the open face dry clutch?

I would need to confirm this but some of the dry clutches were built by Demco. I only know of three of the Sherman and wet clutch combos. They seem to be rare....happy hunting.

I have a WC with the open/dry clutch setting in parts row. Thought about putting in one of the better WCs I have just to see it work.

I"ve never seen the wet clutch live pto option, but there was a dry (open face) aftermarket clutch available. Growing up in the 50s, a neighbor had one on an unstyled WC with factory wide front. Wanna imagine what that tractor would be worth now???
