replacing foot clutch on wd 45

I have a wd 45 allis that was my father in laws. got it this year and started brush hogging with it when it started making a weird sound. parked it in the shop til i could figure out what was wrong with it long story short the clutch seems to be seized up. the engine will not turn while the clutch is engaged. but if you push in on the foot clutch you can turn the engine with the crank.

What Im needing is step by step on how to replace the foot clutch along with any advice to make this easier.

Also any pictures or details on how to split the tractor the easiest way.

I have a shop with a concrete floor and a heavy duty cherry picker if that helps with anything.

If the engine turns when you push in the clutch it
is not the clutch that is seized. More likely the
transmission.

Clutch pedal down and engine turns say not clutch but PTO or transmission problem. The way the clutch work it it disengages the engine form the transmission so if it is pushed down and engine spins over the problem is behind the clutch because it is in fact disengaging the engine form the transmission

As previous posters have pointed out, your problem is not with the foot clutch. Best to remove the battery; now you can't start it accidentally. Remove the battery tray and the wet clutch cover underneath it. This allows you to see the wet clutch and the gear that drives the PTO. Chances are that the PTO is damaged from brush hogging; very common.
Most times, start at the bottom of PTO and work your way up, but if the driveline is jammed up, might as well start high and see how bad it is.
If you cannot turn the engine with the hand clutch thrown forward, there are only two things between it and the foot clutch; the hydraulic pump drive lobes and the PTO driveline. When you have examined it, you will figure out if you want to drain all the PTO, wet clutch & transmission oil and keep on looking for damage.

thanks for all the advice that makes sense then. I have the battery and starter off already so now i will check under the battery box today and start looking there. thanks alot glad i didnt already split the tractor.

After i started hearing the noise while brushinging it was a real faint hitting noise like something hitting round in a cirlce. it only happened when i had the PTO on. Then after i had it in the shop and was running the PTO with no load on it at lowest idle the noise got louder then made a giant thud. thats when it was locked up.

You can still spin the PTO by hand from the back when out of gear.

I got the PTO gear box off the tractor . I found that my problem is that the gear that the PTO gearbox ties into has lost 4 teeth in a row and i think the teeth were binding up. What is this gear and do i have to split the tractor to get to it because i think I'm going to have to. Thanks in advance.
