Steve I need yur help I bought a 12 v delco generator and want to covert my stock wd to the 12 v gen system please tell me what to do

the factory system is a 6 volt generator with a cutout relay and light switch control for charge rate. If you get a 12 volt generator, first you need to see if it is negative or positive ground or "either". You also need a 12 volt voltage regulator that matches the generator. You will no longer use the cutout relay or the light swith resistor. Power from the battery goes to the voltage regulator and two wires from the reg go to the generator.
