Can the year of manufacture be figured out from casting numbers? Thanks, Swede

There is a theory on the head and block casting #'s but it's not 100%. What casting #'s are you wondering about?

Look right by the transmission shifter, forward of the shifter, tractor # is cast into housing, to the right of that, the # is stamped into the casting, about 3/8" tall.

Tell us the engine serial number located on the left side of the engine where it bolts to transmission. Take the valve cover off there is a casting date in the bottom under the rocker arms, it will be close.
