Decal color

I have a 1941 C Allis Chalmers. I have seen the decal in black and in blue. Did they come either or, or is just one correct?

On a 1941 it should be the blue ones. After the war about 1946 on A-C changed to black. My 1950 C currently has the blue ones...not out of my ignorance it"s just that I prefer those decals! It"s the same reason it"s painted Corporate Orange instead of Persian Orange I.Kip

Kip-Utah, on a related issue you may know about. On my 1941 C the rear rims where painted orange, but on many pictures I see the rims painted silver. Do you know which color was original for the 41 model.

Hood decals should be blue with long A and S. Besides, I think that looks better.

I respecfully disagree that ALL the rear rims of Bs and Cs were either galvanized or silver. Perhaps many were, it's a common response to such a question, however I have seen Bs with quite obviously the original paint that still have traces of remaining orange on the rear rims. Here's a quote from the booklet <a href="http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/store/literature/atcs.htm">"The Little ACs"</a> available from this site:

[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]"Colors for rear wheels varied over the years with the early models using black rims and orange for the wheels. The C and B were produced with orange rims for much of the 40s. With the advent of the WD, AC began to use Silver for the B and CA rear rims. This occurred at the start of the 50s. Based on our research, the C was never produced with silver rims."[/b:654c4848f0][/i:654c4848f0]

I painted my '42B rear rims the early persian orange color, not particulalrly because it may have been "correct", but because I much prefer the appearance:

It's your tractor, paint the rims whatever color you prefer. As far as I'm concerned, if it's black, early persian orange, silver or actually galvanized, nobody can say you are wrong with any certainty.

Thanks for your most excallent and informative response. There rims are orange now so you are most likely correct.
