wc running rough

purchase a wc just seems to be not firing on all cylinders or has water in gas. thinking draining fuel tank and changing plugs. is the first place to start. also what is the speed in 4th gear for road travel.

Just seems to be not firing on all cylinder well check to be sure do not guess. Pull one plug wire at a time and make sure you have a blue white spark at that wire that jumps a 1/4 inch gap. Do not guess check. Water in the gas again check do not guess. Pull the carb drain plug and let the gas flow for a few minutes. Catch the gas so as to look for water/dirt/rust. Also since you just got it check the air cleaner it may have been years since it was cleaned out and refilled with oil. NEVER guess check

Top speed in 4th gear is about 11 mph. Varies some with tire size.

Also check that the plug wires are on the correct plugs.

One more thing, do a compression check. My 37 WC was running rough, missing, ect except under a load. Sounded pretty good pulling but was down on power. After 'fixing' the ignition and fuel problems I checked the compression, had 90 lbs. on two cylinders and about 20 on the other two.
