WC ignition

Did all WC's have magneto ignition? My 1944 WC has a coil ignition as shown in the picture and I was wondering if that could be original equipment? All the pictures that I have seen of the WC's show them having a magneto.

Until 1953 they all came with FM magneto. Can anyone tell me if the refit was an exchange program, you never seem to find a mag on the "wagon" at farm auctions. Seems as if the dealers collected the mags when they did the switch. jack

There was a drawer full of magnetos and magneto parts at the AC dealer I worked at 72-84.
I never put that together! But I guess now we know why!. We still fixed magnetos then. Any replacement or exchange took place before my time. I'm going to guess there was no exchange. Since the battery ignition kit fit about anything with a mag.,and was made by Delco, I'm thinking they decided it was a market worth exploiting.

I have a 1939 wc with a mag. but did convert it to a delco -- much easier to work on and cheaper for the tune up kit . I just bought a tune up kit for a FM mag for my chum's Case and it cost $70.00 special order . The delco kits are around $20.00 on the shelf.
