unstyled wc gov. installation?

Guys,I pulled the govenor on my old WC to replace gov.weights and i first removed the cover in the front of gov. with the four bolts and unhooked the spring so I could see the gov. gear mesh.I then put no. one at tdc.an then marked the gears so as to get the exact same mesh. Now the problem im havin is gettin the dang thing back together. I left the mag attached and have been tryin to get the whole assembly back on tractor.I can get the gears started back into the right mesh by lookin threw the front at my marks but with the helical cut am havin trouble gettin it all the way back in. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks alot, Hoss
 
I think you would do it like installing a mag. Turn the govener and trip the impulse in the mag and then back it up to the #1 posision. Then there will be no spring tinison on the gears.
 
Remove the mag. With engine on TDC of number one, install gov. so the mag drive is horizontal when bolted up.
