Have a 1936 WC, i know the firing order is 1243 but how does that cordinate with the wires running from the magneto to the engine. What cylinder is #1? the front or the back? and which is #1 on the magneto?

On the engine the number one plug is the one towards the radiator (front) of the engine. As for the mag it will depend on how it was mounted. If it was mounted per the instructions in the service manual, number one plug "SHOULD" be the upper left wire (#2 should be upper right) However it could be timed to #1 as a different cylinder so the only way of knowing is to get it lined up properly (compression on #1) and pull the smaller cap and look at the position of the rotor. The firing order should be clockwise when facing the rotor cap...

Get # 1 cylinder at TDC on a compression stroke and then look at the rotor. It will be at the # 1 plug wire spot and then go from there clockwise.
