G149 rebuild kits for pulling a C

Curious if anyone has installed the 3-9/16" bore kit in a G149 engine, making about 155 cubes. Considering installing a 149 into a C to make a light puller and might have to do a rebuild. Is this the best route for one of these engines or is there a better build for a 149 pulling engine? I want to be able to turn 14.9-28 tires.

Thanks,

Zack

You can get them in but you will have a bunch of machining to do on the block. I have done the measuring but am not real sure the head gasket will hold. You will have to trim the sleeve lip between one and two as well as three and four. Makes for a real thin lip where it is trimed. Of course you do know that the bottom has to be bored out to get the sleeve to go down in. That makes the web knida thin between the cylinders on the bottom also.
14-9 28's are a little big for the C gearing if you want to pull in the 3 1/2 mph pulls.

You might look thru the pictures of the engine I built for my C.

You can look at the video to see what it will do if you care to.

Funny you should mention that. I found a 160 power unit and thought about putting it into my C. Are there more options for bore and stroke in the wide block engine?

What about the diesel crankshaft? It's a longer stroke but I think main journals are different sizes. Any chance of fitting one of those into the gas block?

Thanks for the pictures and video. I want to run the bigger tires for the 4mph and 6mph classes that we run around here. I figure with the rpm it takes to go that fast, I'll likely have the power to turn them.

All it takes is money. I have the D 15 crank in that C and also in a B. Set both crankshafts up on a layout table and get out the highth gages and mic's and it will soon be visable how to do it. The centers on the rods and mains are the same on both. The C had a 3.5 stroke and the D 15 had a 3 7/8" stroke. I had the rods welded and took mine to a full 4 inch stroke.

Love the time and work you did on the Head..!!

What crank did you install and did you DYNO it..??

NICE job on the valves...!
