loader for model 200

Howdy,

My brother-in-law has an Allis Chalmers model 200 and is interested in adding a loader and has afew questions.

Are there aftermarket loaders available? What is the cost?

What is the weight limit for the 200 loader? I assume it will be able to handle large round bales.

Probably not my first choice for a loader. Very light front end and spindles. Not the nicest to shuttle shift either. I think the Allis loader was a #500 model......Ron

I agree a 200 isnt the best loader tractor, the 500 loader by Allis, would fit and handle round bales ,would be hard to find a good one , look at after market loaders

My dad had a loader on a 200. All the gear grinding made it jump out of gear. And yes, the front end was all welded up. I like the 200's but it is not a loader tractor. I suggest you look for a tractor with a reverser or is synchronized between forward and reverse. e.g. a 2520, 3020, or 4020 are the ones I am aware of that have the later feature. I'm sure there are other good choices. I would hate to see you ruin what I assume is a good 200. Paul

The 100 series tractors didn't have the best front end for a loader. I have a late model 175..no grease fitting on the front pivot pin, leads to significant wear. I push EPO grease in with a putty knife to keep some lube around the "pin". In addition, I have had to weld gussets, between the spindle housings and the axel assembly...twisting eventually weakens the spindle housings, causing cracks. I have to be careful in frozen ground going over ruts as the spindle steering arms can twist on the spindle, loosen up and eventually break. While the manual power director clutch pack is indeed handy for use with a loader the hydraulically actuated versions are not as handy and are seldom used in bucking a manure pack or picking up large round bales. It is somewhat difficult to keep from "grinding" the collars shifting from forward to reverse unless you put the power director clutch pack in Neutral... between shifts... which I do religiously. I have owned my 175 for 32 years and in 1998 put a Bush Hog 2426 QT loader on it...while I like the set up..handy around the barns, the front end needs attention from time to time.
