wd horsepower

i have a 1952 wd. how can i tell what horsepower it has. i have noticed on the internet some are 25 some are 30?? any help is appreciated

If it is the gas one which is pretty much about all you run across any more it is right at 34HP as per the neb test list

Most WDs by this time have had a least one engine O/H. I don't think anybody did an O/H using the standard WD kit the Power Crater kit of the 45 fit and cost very similar, so most have a much higher compression than standard. They have much more power. When I restored mine it got new gaskets manifold, rocker box and push rod cover left the rest alone. Recently dynoed at 36 hp. I believe a freshly run in O/H could reach a little higher.

My list does not have propane but since propane puts out fewer BTUs then gas does it would also cause the tractor to have less power so figure around 30 or so for the propane burner

Remember altitute has a big effect on HP. About 3-4% for every 1000 ft above sea level. My well tuned WD makes 31 PTO HP at 3700 ft above sea level. That should correct to 35 HP at sea level.
