Anyone know anything about a special WWII Allis-Chalmers built Snow Tractor powered by a MB Willys Jeep engine and called a model M-7 or maybe M7?

Of course I didn't have a camera when I was in the museum. The picture on the site quoted is OK, but close ups would be better. If anyone gets near one of these rare babies and knows how to post pictures here, please share with us. A picture on the gallery would be awesome.

Hello and thanks for your reply. Our AACA Maine Region toured the New Hampshire Lake Winnipesaukee Region. One of the stops was the Wright Museum, 77 Center St. Wolfeboro, NH 03894 603-569-1212 www.wrightmuseum.org . There we were treated to one of the best WWII displays I have ever seen. One artifact on display that especially interested me was an Allis Chalmers M-7 Snow Tractor because of my interest in Willys Jeeps. Not being familiar with this item and learning that only 291 were produced made this the focal point of my visit. Surviving examples must be very few as I have been around tractor and Jeep shows for many years and never have seen one before.

Now that you say it, I recall some time after the full article appeared in Farm Collector, someone was selling one...Asking quite a sum.

Generally considered rare. Can't recall if CH Wendell's Allis Chalmers Story has anything on them. Farm Collector has published an article on one, and one article can be read on there site. I'll try to link it, but if it dosent work, the side is http://www.farmcollector.com/Tractors/Allis-Chalmers-M7-The-Abominable-Snow-Tractor.aspx.
