The front wheels wobble really bad. I have read through my manuals and cant seem to see anything I can adjust to fix this. It is a narrow front 1947 model.

After doing all that has been suggested and it still wobbles you might check the axle to make sure it trails the main shaft rather be out in front of it. Sometimes people turn the axle around rather than remove shims thinking they can get away from sloppy gears only to cause a wobble problem.

The pedestal has shims between it and where it mounts. You should be able to unbolt the pedestal and remove shims to allow the gears to mesh properly. I had to remove almost all of the shims to stop that problem on mine.

I had the same issue with my C tractor. I put all new bearings and races in my front end. Also check the spindle shaft. The shaft that the wheel assembly is mounted on. After I did all the bearing work on my tractor, I found out that the spindle on my tractor was wore out because of bad bearings over time. Hope this helps. Kow farmer

Could be wheel bearings may want to check them.

Today's Featured Article - Grain Threshing in the Early 40's - by Jerry D. Coleman. How many of you can sit there and say that you have plowed with a mule? Well I would say not many, but maybe a few. This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S ... [Read Article]
