Allis Hi-Crop

Hi there I have come acroos an Allis 45 HI Crop has drop down rear axles in the rear and a much taller spindle in the front. My question is was this from the factory or dealer add on? Is there a designation in the serial Numb for a Hi-Crop model? Thanks Andy

To answer your questions in order, as best I can, Probably it is a B.C. Thompson conversion, Cane Tractor. No serial numbers, as far as I know were designated, as Thompson bought, converted, and sold the tractors, in Thibodaux, LA. There is a picture of one, in Swinford's book, Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment 1914-1985. I won't give you a page #, because there are several editions of this book out there, and the absolutely correct police will debate it all night! Suffice it to say, it is in the chapter, on the WD.
